What’s the goal? To be a disciple. To be on the paths of righteousness. To become the spitting image of Christ. How do you reach the goal? Following Jesus—WWJD? Jesus would do whatever pleased the Father, what He saw the Father doing.

The Goal
Don’t be distracted from the goal. There is only one goal to aim at, Jesus. He is the Way; you are on the paths of righteousness for His sake, not yours. Your goal should never be to get your way in any given situation. Your goal should the Way.
Free
You don’t have to react. You are free in Christ. You are free from bondage. You are free from having to do anything except God’s will. It’s a lie that you can’t help it, that you can’t change. His grace is sufficient, not lacking in any way.
Give Up Your Rights
Jesus gave His life for you. Can you give your life for Him? He sacrificed everything temporarily. That’s what He asks of you. You need to temporarily give up your life. It is not your own. You don’t have rights. But He gives you His life forever, permanently. Then you will have all the rights of a child of the King.
The Mothers Brought Their Children
Bring your children to Jesus to be blessed by God. The disciples tried to shoo the little kids away, but their mothers had the wisdom to bring them to Jesus.
God’s Unchanging Goal
God is unchanging. He has never been for political reform. Even when His people followed a corrupt system, He didn’t end it. Even when Jesus lived under an oppressive regime, He didn’t end it. They are His tools. He uses them to change hearts. It’s not His goal to see to it you don’t suffer or you don’t have your rights violated. His goal is to see His people as One in Christ Jesus.
Always and Forever
God doesn’t want to be rushed. Don’t squeeze Him in. He shouldn’t be a moment of your day. He should be all your moments. Stop to talk to Him in the secret place but also talk to Him now, here and there, always. Be aware of His presence always. Be with Him the same way He is with you, always and forever.
Blessed
Blessed are those whose God is the Lord. Blessed is sometimes translated happy. Are you happy? Have you rejoiced today because you have a great God?
Waiting for the Command
Be filled with the Holy Spirit. Know you are in God’s presence and following His direction, His pillar of fire. His path is set before you. Sometimes though the command is to wait, to stay put, to ‘set up the tabernacle’ and worship, just be before Him. Other times there are commands to work, but there come commands to rest as well. Paul worked tirelessly, but he fellowshiped with others, maintained relationships and obeyed. There were years of learning, waiting before all that began. If you never stop, you will never learn, and then God will never call you into action.
Note: Paul was a Christian for 14 years before he made a convert; there were “eleven silent years.”
First Fruits
.Bring to God your best, your “first fruits.” He doesn’t want lazy offerings. He wants your attention, your devotion. Don’t give him the scraps, the leftovers of your day. Give Him your whole day because what He really wants is your whole life.
“ln Him we live and move and have our being.” Be aware of His presence and offer Him the moments, the conversations, the attitudes, the situations. He wants it all, all that is you.
