My Rights

Take the frustrating, slightly infuriating experiences of life and hold them up to Christ’s sufferings. Do they compare? In fact, as a child of God you have the right to share in Christ sufferings, not avoid them.

“In this world you will have trouble,” that is God’s promise, “but I have overcome the world.” Christ in you is an overcomer. How to overcome in such situations? Love conquers all. Kill them with kindness.

Peace, patience, kindness, goodness, self control,…these are your keys to overcoming and they are all yours by the Spirit.

Show Me Your Way

“Good morning, Lord, this is Your day. I am your child; show me Your way.” I love to say this prayer as I wake up, still stirring under the covers. I don’t know its origin; I learned it from a children’s sermon.

God’s way is lit by His Word. If we want to see the way to go, we have to know His word and know the Word.

“Show me Your way?” Jesus says, “I am The Way.” Remain in Him and you will remain on the way.

Living Out God’s Love in You

God is love. You cannot truly love without God’s help. Christ in you is God’s love in you. Christ living through you is God’s love reaching out. Turn your life over to Him every day to love through you. When you feel anger instead of love, turn the person over to God. Thank Him for creating this person and placing him or her in your life. Thank Him for the grace to respond in love.

How do we respond in love? What does that mean? Love is patient. Love is kind… (There are three versions of the verses below.)

Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.  -NASB

Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him.  -Living Bible

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.  -The Message

For Such a Time as This

The Lord called you by name, created you, formed you, brought you forth, counseled you, protected you, guided your footsteps to this place and time. He has purposed to use you in this time and in this place. He is not a God who creates accidents. There is purpose to where you are.

Just like Esther, you were made for such a time as this. She was created and gifted for a purpose. You were created and gifted for a purpose. Not a day nor a lesson was wasted . He had you in His sights and in His very hand the whole time.

Peace and Quiet

Peace is not quiet and stillness of surroundings; it’s the quiet and stillness of your spirit. If Christ, the Prince of Peace, rules in your life, then peace can be the rule of your life. Submit the moments of stress to Christ. Thank Him in the moment for the moment and for the grace to get through to the next.

My peace I leave with you; My Spirit I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid.

Let the peace of Christ rule in you.

The Power of the Word

The Word in you is the power of the gospel. How does the power of the Word come to live out the power of the gospel? The Word in the flesh, in you, by the blood and the water and the Spirit.

We can all be a part of the ministry of the Word by letting the Word live in us. Everyone can be as Mary and yield themselves to the Spirit’s life in them.

Christ in you is the Word in you. What does the Word look like? It cuts. It heals. It divides. It unites. With the life of Christ, the Word in the flesh, you will be a peacemaker, a joy giver, a beacon and barrister of truth.

Christ’s life is placed in your hands. You can hide it or destroy it, though it would live on elsewhere. You can nourish it, flourish with it. It won’t possess you. You have the control. You must reach out and take hold  of this offering, this gift you’ve already received. Don’t let this gift of life slip through your fingers. Take hold.

Resting in Prayer

Jesus tells us to come to Him when we are in need of rest. That is prayer, giving up because you can’t and turning to God because He can. He can take your problems and turn them into blessings. So stop trying to fix your problems and everyone else’s. Turn them over to God and let Him work it out the best possible way. Your job will then be to wait and watch. Prayer will help you do that, help you wait and watch instead of fuss and fret.

Come to Me…
